Independence Day Celebration 2018
Delhi Public School Durgapur celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with great splendor, joy and respect for Mother India, at its premises on 15th August this year. The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of “Tiranga” by the honourable Chief Guest Group Captain Jasween Singh Chatrath and his wife, Dr(Mrs ) Chhabi Nandy, the councilor of DMC and the Principal of DPS Durgapur, Sri Umesh Ch. Jaiswal ,followed by a mellow presentation of the National Anthem. Approximately 175 students presented this colorful cultural programme.
A Dance Drama based on Rabindranath Tagore’s “ Where the mind is without fear” by Bulbul, the school scout,and an eloquent recitation of poet Dinesh Das’s “Bharat Barsha”,an inspirational patriotic poem in Bengali left the audience mesmerized. Awell-knit skit ‘Ek Nayi Subah’,staged by the students of the secondary section highlighted the necessity of freedom from addiction to social sites, to which, the modern civilizationhas fallen a prey.Gaiety and patriotic fervor found its vent in a gracious dance performance staged by the dance group.
